The Phil Nelson Challenge 2025

The Phil Nelson Challenge Shoot 2025

WHAT A FANTASTIC WEEKEND!

Everything was in place for another unforgettable ‘Phil Nelson Challenge’ traditional, annual, invitational shoot.

Saturday kicked off with a hearty, homemade breakfast for the early risers. After sign-in, participants enjoyed a delicious lunch buffet before heading into the woods at 1:00 pm for the first round of 20 targets. As always, our archers brought their best—and it showed!

Now, a peculiar twist: some of the target creatures made an epic journey all the way from Germany—on foot and by swimming, no less! By the time they arrived at their final destination, they were so thin and tiny, it was a miracle the archers recognized them at all. But they did—and promptly aimed to put them out of their misery. Sorry, Marcel, for the valiant but ultimately unsuccessful battle in the first round!

Following a well-earned coffee break, it was back into the woods for round two. The weather couldn’t have been better, and the cheerful spirit among everyone was unmistakable. While the laughter echoed through the trees, we couldn’t help but feel the absence of Travis—he was dearly missed.

The day wrapped up with a crowd-pleasing BBQ featuring moose burgers that vanished in no time. Huge thanks to Phil for that treat! The evening carried on with live acoustic music from John Simms, joined by John & Karen Cann, adding just the right touch to a warm and joyful night.

Sunday began with another tasty homemade breakfast before the final round got underway around 10:30. Though the day was a little chilly and damp, it didn’t dampen anyone’s spirits. After the third round, another hearty lunch was served while scores were counted.

Phil Nelson himself awarded the honours, announcing Anthony Williams as the overall winner—the third name now engraved on the plaque.

All in all, this year’s Phil Nelson Challenge was once again filled with great fun, friendship, and unforgettable moments. We’re already counting down the days to 2026!

A big thank-you to all participants, volunteers, and organizers. Special thanks as well to Marcel Doucette for donating a beautifully handcrafted belt as a raffle prize—congratulations to Jennifer Williams for winning it!

CONGRATULATIONS to all the winners!
