A Day of Archery, Friendship, and Legacy

The annual ‘Francis Shebib Memorial Shoot’ took place on Sunday, September 1, 2024, hosted by the Cape Breton Bowmen.
This beloved event, honouring the memory of Francis Shebib, drew over 60 archers to the beautiful Cape Breton countryside, including more than 20 participants from the Barn Archers group.

Who Was Francis Shebib?

For those who may not have had the pleasure of knowing him, Francis Shebib was a well-known figure in the traditional archery community, particularly in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia. He was a dedicated archer and an advocate for traditional archery practices. Francis was respected not only for his skill in archery but also for his contributions to the sport. He often shared his knowledge and passion with others in the community.

In addition to his archery skills, Francis Shebib was known for his dedication to preserving the traditional methods of archery and his involvement in local archery clubs made him a beloved figure among archers in the region.

Francis Shebib’s legacy in the archery community is remembered fondly by those who knew him, and his impact on the sport continues to be felt in Cape Breton and beyond.

A Day of Competition and Camaraderie

Blessed with gorgeous weather, the event featured two challenging rounds of 20 targets each, with archers shooting two arrows per target.
The competition was open to both compound and traditional shooters, ensuring a diverse and exciting day of archery.
In true Francis Shebib Memorial Shoot fashion, a fantastic selection of door prizes was handed out, adding an extra layer of excitement to the day. The smiles on the faces of the lucky winners were a testament to the fun and friendly atmosphere that defines this event.
