‘The Barn’ and John's Archery – 2023
"It's been 19 whole months since 'The Barn' and 'John's Archery' opened up!
WOW - More Than Just Arrows, It's Been a Heck of a Ride!"
Wanna go over the big stuff that happened in 2023?
Well, Let’s start with a short ‘Barn’ overview…
2023 has been a bullseye of a year for Barn Archers and John’s Archery!
The Archery Canada Indoor Mail Match kicked off the year with arrows flying like Cupid on a caffeine high from January to March.
Then, in June, we dared the ‘Phil Nelson’ Challenge – where even the bravest bows trembled. August heated up with our ‘Summer Sizzle’ 3D shoot, proving archery isn’t just for indoors. We even gave a nod to frostbite in November with the ‘Frosty-Frenzy’ outdoor shoot.
Open Houses were packed like quivers, Halloween had us spooking and December wrapped up with cheers, awards, and a growing archery family. John’s been coaching like a modern-day Robin Hood, and we can count more than 50 members at ‘The Barn ‘by the end of this year.
Here’s to more arrows and laughter in 2024! 🏹🎯
WOW! Reading everything that happened in one paragraph is crazy cool.
Ok…
The Barn Archers have been on a roll, spreading the love for traditional archery far and wide! Not content with hitting ‘animals’ in their own backyard, Barn members hit the road, supporting local and provincial shoots alongside the associated clubs.
Meanwhile, John’s Archery took the show on the road, setting up their trusty ‘tent’ on the mainland for a week of volunteer work as range safety officers at the North American Indigenous Games. Try-Archery at Caleb’s Courage saw over 100 kids taking a shot, with Anthony riding in as the hero in the nick of time. The CBRM Girl Boss Try Archery? Nailed it. And just when you thought it couldn’t get more exciting, Karen and John rode into ‘SEAWINDS HORSE ARCHERS’ for a horseback archery lesson from Lance Bishop. Arrows from horseback? Check. Bucket list? One point closer.
And as if our year wasn’t thrilling enough, the Barn Archers and John’s Archery took it up a notch by making a dazzling debut in the Louisburg Christmas Parade. What an unexpected joyride!
It’s not just archery; it’s a wild adventure with ‘The Barn’ crew! 🏹
2024
Hold onto your quivers, folks! The Mail Match is back in January, proving that our arrows are as reliable as our New Year’s resolutions (well, almost).
In April, the red carpet will be rolled out for the Canadian 3D National Indoor Championships in Sydney—Eastern Canada’s archery debut! Show up, and prove we’re still the kings and queens of the bow and arrow.
July’s bringing the TAANS traditional-only shoot, and rumour has it, it might be on Cape Breton Island. Talk about shooting in style!
Then, in August, the Canadian Nationals’ Outdoor 3D Championships hit NB. Eastern Canada, you’re stealing the archery spotlight, and we love it.
Please mark your calendars for our Summer Sizzle on August 10/11, the Barn Trophy on October 5, and Frosty-Frenzy on November 16.
Looks like 2024 is shaping up to be the year of bullseyes and belly laughs. Ready, set, shoot!
Overall it was another fantastic second year for ‘The Barn’ and John’s Archery.
As you can see, our to-do list for next year is jam-packed with excitement, and we can’t wait to dive right into it! Our main goal remains unwavering — to support traditional archery. So buckle up, Barn Archers!
In our vibrant traditional archery community, pride swells for every member, family, guest, and friend. Committed and ever-ready with helping hands, you all make the magic happen.
